It was 2.41 a.m. and she was nowhere near sleepy. She wanted to sleep but her thoughts prohibited her from doing so. She lay on her stomach, her head resting on her hand. She was looking out of the big window of the room, at the swaying trees outside. She turned away from the window, now facing the wall. The dancing trees cast shadows on the wall resembling the ghosts in her thoughts. This thought spooked her a little; she didn’t want her imagination running wild… not at this hour of the night. Not knowing what to do she picked up her phone. Blue and white LED light filled the room. After two games of Sudoku on the device, she made this note. The birds had already started chirping outside and the moon – a mesmerizing orange half-circle – had also risen higher in the sky. She wondered if she’ll bear witness to the rising sun… again. “Ahh… Meghna go to sleep,” she whispered to herself. And before putting the phone down, she saved this note.
